Turkish diplomat calls for urgent reform of global security system

Turkish diplomat Alptekin Cihangir Isbilir has called for a reform of the current international system, asserting that many global organizations, which are tasked with ensuring peace and security, are instead exacerbating conflicts and escalating tensions worldwide.

Isbilir, media advisor to the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, made the comments during a panel discussion titled “A Fairer World is Possible”, organized by the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications as part of the Stratcom Public Forum, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Isbilir emphasized that the existing international framework is failing to fulfill its primary purpose of maintaining global peace. He stated, “There are organizations in the world responsible for global security, their task is to prevent wars and establish peace. However, now we see that on the contrary, they are fuelling conflicts and exacerbating tensions.”

He added that the international system is no longer equipped to effectively manage and mitigate global conflicts and, as a result, needs urgent reform.

The Stratcom Summit is an international communication event organized by the Communications Directorate of the Presidency of Türkiye, as part of the Türkiye Communication Model. Since its inception in 2021, the summit has addressed crucial topics such as combating disinformation, crisis communication, public diplomacy, media planning, technology, and new media skills.

Held annually in different cities, the Stratcom Summit brings together international guests to explore various themes. The summit focuses on generating sustainable solutions to both fundamental and contemporary communication challenges, with an emphasis on seeking the truth. The most recent summit took place in December 2024 in Istanbul, under the theme "Artificial Intelligence in Communication: Trends, Traps, and Transition."

Looking ahead, the Stratcom Summit aims to continue offering effective strategic communication models, leveraging advancements in technology, new media, and public diplomacy. The summit seeks to respond to developments affecting individuals, societies, and governments, and will remain dedicated to promoting the Türkiye Communication Model, driven by a commitment to truth and the fight against disinformation. It will continue to bring together international government officials, academics, journalists, and experts from around the world.
