Turkish experts assess agritourism potential in southern Azerbaijan PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency has hosted a delegation of Turkish specialists on a four-day familiarisation visit to the Lankaran region aimed at expanding cooperation in agritourism.
According to Caliber.Az, the visit took place from November 25 to 28 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with Türkiye in rural and farming-based tourism.
The agency said the Turkish experts toured a range of sites, including tea plantations, farms, bamboo groves, apitherapy facilities, fisheries and the Hirkan National Park, to gain an insight into the region’s agritourism prospects. They also met representatives of local agritourism businesses to exchange views on developing farm-based tourism and improving regional capacity.
Specialists from Türkiye’s Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry briefed their Azerbaijani counterparts on agritourism practices in Trabzon and Rize.
The visit was organised under the “Experience Exchange Programme on Agritourism and Field Visits”, which was approved in the action plan of the fourth meeting of the Azerbaijan–Türkiye Joint Tourism Commission held in Baku on 6 February this year.
