Turkish FM, top officials to attend Victory Parade in Baku

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the Victory Parade in Baku on November 8, Azerbaijani authorities have confirmed.

Fidan will travel alongside Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler as part of a delegation headed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is due to visit Azerbaijan for the celebrations, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

On December 3, 2020, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order establishing November 8 as Victory Day in Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Defence reported that rehearsals are underway, involving troops, military vehicles, aircraft, and naval units.

Victory Day commemorates the liberation of Shusha from Armenian occupation on November 8, 2020, a key moment in Azerbaijan’s 44-day war that concluded with a tripartite ceasefire on November 10.
