Turkish forces neutralise over 40 PKK/YPG targets in Iraq, Syria
Turkish forces have destroyed a total of 47 terrorist targets belonging to the PKK/YPG in northern Iraq and Syria.
Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler made the announcement while speaking at the TUSAŞ stand at the SAHA EXPO 2024 defence industry exhibition in Istanbul, Caliber.Az reports.
"Altogether, 47 terrorist targets, including 29 in Iraq and 18 in northern Syria, were struck with full precision, neutralising many terrorists," Güler stated.
Earlier, the Turkish intelligence agency, MIT, revealed that key strategic assets of the PKK/YPG terrorist organisation in northern Syria and Iraq had been destroyed. These included buildings related to energy infrastructure, as well as logistics and ammunition depots.
Notably, since 2016, Ankara has launched a trio of successful anti-terror operations across its border in northern Syria to prevent the formation of a terror corridor and enable the peaceful settlement of residents: Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018), and Peace Spring (2019).
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people, including women, children, and infants.
