Turkish justice minister visits Baku to enhance legal ties with Azerbaijan

04 October 2024 12:49

Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç has arrived in Baku for an official visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the justice ministries of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

Discussions will focus on prospects for collaboration, with a memorandum of understanding expected to be signed between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

During his visit, Minister Tunç paid tribute to the late national leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, by visiting his grave at the Alley of Honour.

Following this, he proceeded to the Alley of Martyrs and laid a wreath at the Turkish Martyrs monument. Accompanying him were Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bağcı, embassy staff, and Azerbaijani public figures.

In his statement to the press, Minister Tunç highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance judicial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

“Today, we will engage in discussions regarding various issues related to the fairness of punishment and justice,” he remarked, emphasising the importance of these talks.

Meanwhile, the minister noted that the two-day visit includes meetings with key Azerbaijani officials, including Chairman of the Supreme Court Inam Kerimov and Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev.

The upcoming discussions are anticipated to lay the groundwork for further collaboration between the two countries in the field of justice.
