Turkish MFA hails Azerbaijani-Armenian agreement towards peace
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has welcomed the joint statement of the Azerbaijani presidential administration and the Armenian prime minister’s office, expressing support for “continuing discussions on additional steps”.
“We welcome the decision to take some concrete steps to strengthen trust between the two countries, announced in a joint statement by the Azerbaijani presidential administration and the Armenian prime minister’s office. We support the decision to continue discussions on additional steps to build confidence,” Report informs citing the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s statement.
“We wish the speedy signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which will become one of the most important events in establishing permanent peace and stability in the South Caucasus,” the statement said.
On December 7, an agreement on the release of 32 people of Armenian origin by Azerbaijan and two Azerbaijani servicemen by Armenia was reached as a result of negotiations held between the Azerbaijani presidential administration and the Armenian prime minister’s office, in the spirit of commitment to the principle of humanism, as a measure of mutual trust between the two countries and a sign of goodwill.
