Turkish military delegation visits Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Photo

A delegation led by General Metin Toker, Commander of the Land Forces of Türkiye, visited Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on March 11.

The delegation paid respects to the memory of Heydar Aliyev at his monument in Nakhchivan city’s main square and also visited the monument of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, honouring the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports via the ministry.

As part of the visit, the Turkish delegation attended the Headquarters of the Special Operations Forces (SOF), where they met with Lieutenant General Kenan Seyidov, Commander of the Land Forces of Azerbaijan. In accordance with protocol, the delegation signed the “Book of Honour” and held detailed discussions on issues of mutual interest.

During the briefing, Azerbaijani officials provided information on the history, development, activities, reforms, and future objectives of the SOF.

General Toker emphasised that Türkiye stands by Azerbaijan to strengthen regional stability and security, reaffirming readiness to provide military assistance under the provisions of the historic Shusha Declaration. He described the bilateral relationship as having a solid foundation in strategic and military partnership.

The visit also included discussions on planning joint military exercises and exchanging operational experience, reflecting continued cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces.
