Turkish minister announces imminent supply of gas from Black Sea
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez has said that the first phase of gas supplies from the Sakarya field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea envisages the daily pumping of 10 million cubic metres of gas into the country's gas distribution system.
"The further stage of development of the field will bring the daily volume to 40 million cubic metres," Anadolu Agency reports citing the minister.
He noted that the new field in the Black Sea not only will contribute to Türkiye's energy security, but will also allow exporting some produced gas through the International Gas Trade Centre in Trakya.
As for the plans for the creation of this Centre in north-western Türkiye, the minister said that the roadmap on this issue would be ready before the end of the year.
Donmez also said that a total of 299 settlements of the country are planned to be provided with gas from 2022 through 2026.
