Turkish parliament speaker sends Ramadan greetings to Azerbaijani counterpart
On March 4, President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş reached out to Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova to extend his heartfelt congratulations on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.
Kurtulmuş conveyed his well wishes for the blessed month to bring peace, prosperity, and well-being to the fraternal Azerbaijani people and the broader Muslim community worldwide, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
In addition to the greetings, the two leaders took the opportunity to discuss various matters concerning the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, particularly the ongoing cooperation between their respective legislative bodies. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of interaction between the two countries’ parliaments, both bilaterally and within the framework of international parliamentary organisations.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is considered one of the holiest months for Muslims worldwide. It is a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. Muslims believe that during Ramadan, the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, and adherents refrain from food, drink, smoking from dawn until sunset. The fast is seen as a means of purifying the body and soul, fostering empathy for the less fortunate, and strengthening one's connection with God.
