Turkish president highlights potential for $10 billion trade with Hungary
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has indicated that trade between his country and Hungary could rise to $10 billion, as both countries continue to strengthen their bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
Speaking during a meeting in Istanbul with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Erdoğan noted that Ankara and Budapest have recently signed a series of agreements enhancing the contractual framework of their cooperation, covering areas such as aviation, security, technology, culture, and education, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
“Türkiye and Hungary are close to achieving the previously set trade target of $6 billion,” Erdoğan said, highlighting the ongoing growth in bilateral commerce.
The president also pointed out that 2025 has been designated the Year of Science and Innovation by the two nations, during which funds have been allocated for joint projects and 28 collaborative events have already taken place.
“Given the significant trade potential between our countries, we discussed the possibility of raising the trade volume to $10 billion,” Erdoğan added, signaling ambitious plans for further economic engagement.
