Turkish VP: Everyone will benefit from Armenia-Azerbaijan peace
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has said that a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia would have far-reaching benefits, extending beyond the South Caucasus to the broader region and globally.
Speaking to domestic media, Yılmaz emphasised the importance of the current political momentum and called for making full use of the existing favourable conditions to finalise a lasting settlement.
“Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan will make a significant contribution not only to the South Caucasus, but also to the region as a whole, as well as on a global level,” he said.
He expressed hope that the process would soon reach completion and result in a sustainable peace.
“We hope that the final stages will be completed, and we will all see together that this peace is realised on a sustainable basis. A certain political atmosphere has now taken shape. With peace fully established in the South Caucasus, a completely new atmosphere will emerge. Everyone will benefit from this. Karabakh is already being restored as part of Azerbaijan. Significant investments have been made, and a great deal of work has been done in this direction. This is important for all of us, and the process continues. Significant progress has already been achieved there.
This will benefit Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, as well as the South Caucasus region as a whole. On the other hand, the Zangezur Corridor is of great importance. With the establishment of peace, the connection between Azerbaijan and Türkiye will be further strengthened. At the same time, ties between Europe and Asia will be strengthened,” Yılmaz said.
