Türkiye-Azerbaijan ties strengthen across all sectors, says ambassador

Relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan are rapidly deepening across economic, political, cultural, and energy sectors, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Birol Akgün said during an event in Baku organized by the Seranit brand in collaboration with SinerjiPro.

“Especially after the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 and the liberation of Karabakh, these relations have gained a completely new vision. With the signing of the Shusha Declaration, Türkiye and Azerbaijan have, in a real sense, become strategic allies,” Akgün stated, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The ambassador highlighted that under the leadership of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the solidarity between the two nations has reached a level that could serve as a global example.

He also emphasized the shared cultural and urban heritage within the Turkic world. “Cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Baku, Konya, Bursa, Edirne, Istanbul, Ankara, Astana, and Bishkek are key examples of Turkic civilization in terms of architecture and aesthetics. Cities are not only roads, metro systems, and infrastructure,” he said.

Akgün praised Baku for standing out as a city boldly showcasing the architectural vision of the 21st century.

Concluding his remarks, he thanked the organizers and noted that architecture, urban planning, and aesthetics will be particularly important in the context of the upcoming 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) and the city’s future development.
