Türkiye backs permanent climate dialogue platform in Baku initiative
Türkiye supports transforming the Baku Continuity Coalition into a permanent platform for climate dialogue, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Hasan Suver told the high-level meeting of the Baku Continuity Coalition on Urban Climate Action and Sustainable Urbanisation, held on the margins of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
The deputy minister said climate change has long ceased to be solely an environmental issue and has become a complex and multifaceted challenge, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He noted that it directly affects the security of urban areas, the resilience of infrastructure systems, as well as food and water security.
“Türkiye views the Baku Continuity Coalition as a strategic link between COP29 in Baku, WUF13 and the upcoming COP31 in Antalya. The coalition should be transformed into a permanent dialogue platform and contribute to translating declarations of intent into practical projects and concrete financial mechanisms,” the deputy minister said.
