Azerbaijan shows regional leadership at Turkic States Summit, says Turkish diplomat
A senior Turkish diplomat has praised Azerbaijan’s leadership within the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) and its strategic importance in the region.
Metin Kılıç, a member of the Board of the Ankara Diplomatic Council and a representative of Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry, said the 12th Summit of the OTS Council of Heads of State demonstrated Azerbaijan’s prominent role within the organisation, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Kılıç highlighted Azerbaijan’s position as a key transit hub linking Central Asia to Anatolia. “The significance of the Zangazur corridor is indisputable,” he said, emphasising the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, which stretches from China through Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
The diplomat also underscored Azerbaijan’s commitment to peace, security, and independent regional policy. He pointed to initiatives such as military cooperation, cyber-security efforts, joint exercises, and collective agreements among Turkic states as evidence of Azerbaijan’s proactive role in shaping regional stability.
The remarks follow the 12th Summit of the OTS Council of Heads of State, held on October 7 in Gabala, where leaders discussed deepening political, economic, and security cooperation.
