Türkiye reaffirms commitment to peace, cooperation in South Caucasus Following 3+3 ministerial meeting

19 October 2024 09:21

The Turkish Foreign Ministry underscored the country's dedication to fostering sustainable peace and enhancing cooperation among South Caucasus nations.

The statement follows the ministerial meeting of the 3+3 regional format held in Istanbul, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The joint declaration highlighted the pivotal role of regional economic collaboration in building trust, promoting welfare, and ensuring stability among the involved countries. Participants agreed to explore avenues for cooperation in vital sectors including transportation, communication, trade, energy, investment, and telecommunications.

Furthermore, the statement emphasized the necessity of dialogue as a cornerstone for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

The 3+3 platform, which comprises Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Iran, and Türkiye, was established to tackle regional issues and promote collaboration. The inaugural meeting occurred in December 2021 in Moscow, initially involving deputy foreign ministers. Since then, the platform has progressed to include higher-level discussions.

The latest meeting took place in October 2023 in Tehran, where the foreign ministers convened to address current regional concerns. It is noteworthy that Georgia officially withdrew from the platform on November 15, 2023.
