Türkiye's Assan to launch advanced bomb production facility in Azerbaijan
Turkish defence firm Assan is in the process of establishing an aerial bomb production facility in Azerbaijan, alongside ongoing ammunition sales to the country.
Gurcak Okumus, the CEO of Assan, stated that agreements for the plant's construction are "largely completed, with other permission processes pending," Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
He made these remarks at the three-day Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition (ADEX) taking place in Baku.
Okumus noted that cooperation between Turkish defence firms and Azerbaijan has reached a significant level since the Azerbaijani Air Forces began utilising ammunition produced by Türkiye and NATO.
He also mentioned that the defence contractor is continuing its investment plans in Azerbaijan.
According to Okumus, Assan receives demand for a variety of defence products—from heavy construction machinery to aerial bombs—manufactured in the Turkish capital, Ankara, from countries including the UAE, Bulgaria, Romania, and Brazil.
Notably, ADEX takes place at the Baku Expo Center from September 24 to 26. It is the largest event in the region dedicated to the defence industry and coincides with the 14th International Exhibition for Internal Security, Safety, and Rescue Equipment (Securex Caspian). Both exhibitions feature participants from around the globe.
The ADEX exhibition, while celebrating its fifth anniversary, operates with a decade of experience, continually growing its list of participants and sectors with each edition. Since its inception in 2014, the event has gathered numerous companies and hosted over 200 official delegations from more than 50 countries worldwide. To date, more than 30,000 visitors have attended the event throughout the years.
