TurkPA delegates honour Azerbaijani heroes at Victory Park in Baku
On April 15, delegates from the second meeting of defence and security committee chairs of TurkPA member parliaments visited Victory Park in Baku, where they were briefed on the park’s symbolic significance honoring Azerbaijan’s victory in second Karabakh war.
The visit was part of a broader session titled “Strengthening Cooperation in Security and Defence Among Turkic States: The Role of Parliaments”, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The officials laid flowers at the Victory Monument and solemnly honored the memory of the Azerbaijani soldiers who died during the second Karabakh war. Victory Park was established to commemorate the extraordinary courage and sacrifice shown by the Azerbaijani people during the 44-day second Karabakh war, which culminated in a historic national triumph. The park also serves as a lasting tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes.
One of the park's most striking features is a grand Triumphal Arch at its entrance, standing 44 metres tall and 22 metres wide. The structure is supported by 44 columns, symbolising each day of the conflict. The park covers an area of approximately 10 hectares. Victory Park was officially inaugurated on November 8, 2024, in a ceremony attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.
