UAE Special Operations Forces commander visits Azerbaijan to boost military cooperation PHOTO

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, welcomed a delegation led by Brigadier General Mohammed Saeed Alsalmi, Commander of the UAE Presidential Guard Special Operations Forces, during an official visit.

Welcoming the UAE delegation, Colonel General Hasanov expressed his satisfaction at the visit, highlighting the ongoing development of Azerbaijani-UAE military cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Defence Ministry.

He underscored the strategic significance of the recent “Indestructible Partnership-2025” joint special forces exercise, conducted in Azerbaijan, as a platform for mutual experience exchange.

Brigadier General Alsalmi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality, noting that mutual visits and joint exercises strengthen operational ties and enhance cooperation between the Special Forces of both nations.

The UAE delegation visited a Special Forces military unit, paying tribute at the bust of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and at a monument commemorating Shehids (martyrs).

During a meeting with Major General Alakbar Jahangirov, Commander of the Azerbaijani Special Forces, the sides exchanged views on the development of military cooperation and discussed the training and operational activities of Azerbaijan’s Special Forces.

Both parties emphasised that joint exercises enhance the professionalism and readiness of servicemen and confirmed the importance of continuing such cooperation. Brigadier General Alsalmi concluded the visit by signing the military unit’s remembrance book.
