UK appoints first-ever military attaché to Azerbaijan

The British Embassy in Azerbaijan has announced a landmark move in UK-Azerbaijan relations, with the appointment of Lieutenant Commander Gavin Tarbard as the first British resident Defence Attaché in Azerbaijan.

In a statement shared via the UK's embassy on X, the foreign office expressed its enthusiasm about the new position, Caliber.Az reports.

"We are delighted to announce the arrival of Lieutenant Commander Gavin Tarbard as the first British resident Defence Attaché in Azerbaijan," the statement read.

"This historic milestone reflects the growing strength of the partnership and will enhance our defence and security cooperation."
