UK appoints first resident defence attaché to Armenia
The United Kingdom has appointed Major Thomas Shorland Ball as its first resident defence attaché to Armenia, the British Embassy to Armenia announced.
The embassy described the move as historic, highlighting that it reflects the strengthening partnership between the two countries and noted that the appointment of a resident defence attaché will support further deepening of cooperation in defence and security, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
In August, Armenia and the United Kingdom agreed to elevate their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
This agreement was reached during the second round of the strategic dialogue held in Yerevan.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to democratic values, the rule of law, and human rights, and expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in the fields of security, cybersecurity, and countering hybrid threats.
Future high-level contacts and exchanges of military attachés were also discussed.
