UK expert optimistic about COP29 Looks forward to Azerbaijan visit
In an interview with AZERTAC, Dan Parsons, Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Loughborough University, UK, and professor in geosciences, emphasized the importance of global collaboration in addressing climate change.
He underscored the need for international efforts and COP events to tackle this pressing issue, Caliber.Az reports.
Parsons expressed optimism for COP29, highlighting the potential for innovative approaches to unlock financial resources and advance climate-friendly development. "I am very much looking forward to COP29 and hope it will yield significant progress in honoring the Paris Agreement," he stated.
Parsons, who has never visited Azerbaijan but first learned about the country as a child during a football match, is eager to travel to Baku with a delegation from Loughborough University.
He stressed the importance of international partnerships in achieving zero emissions and believes that combining Loughborough University's expertise with Azerbaijan's resources will significantly contribute to global climate change solutions.
"We need strong global cooperation to realize the transition to zero emissions.
International partnerships are crucial, and I am confident that our collaboration with countries like Azerbaijan will play a vital role in combating climate change on a global scale," Parsons noted.
