UK's Johnson calls on Azerbaijan to join Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention
16 June 2022 15:48
"Mines and other munitions have made [liberated from occupation] territories unusable. I am very glad that British experts and demining companies are working together with their Azerbaijani colleagues to remove this threat."
According to Report, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated this in a letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the start of the IX Global Baku Forum.
"A commitment by Azerbaijan to prevent the planting of new mines and the signing of the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mines (Ottawa Convention) would be a great step towards peace and the successful resettlement of people in these lands, and would demonstrate regional leadership," the British Prime Minister stressed.
