Ukrainian drone strike sparks fire at energy sites in Russia’s Oryol
A fire broke out at fuel and energy infrastructure facilities in Russia’s Oryol Region following an attack by Ukrainian drones on the night of December 1 to 2, regional governor Andrey Klychkov said.
Klychkov noted that the strike targeted the Livensky district, where the attack triggered a blaze at energy-sector facilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
No casualties were reported, he added.
Emergency Ministry crews are currently on site working to extinguish the fire and eliminate the consequences of the attack, the governor said.
Ukraine's campaign against Russian energy infrastructure, escalated since August 2025, has hit over 20 facilities, reducing Russia's refining capacity by 15–20% and costing Moscow $2–3 billion in damages, per Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA). The Oryol strike is the third on this site in two months, following attacks on October 19 that halted primary processing and a November 16 strike that damaged storage facilities.
