UN appoints acting Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan

The United Nations has appointed Igor Garafulic as Acting Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan.

The announcement on the UN website notes that Garafulic will perform his duties in this position until July 1, 2026, Caliber.Az reports.

The former UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Vladanka Andreeva, completed her mission in the country on January 8, 2026.

Garafulic has served as an economist holding various public positions in Chile since 1991. He has a degree in Economics from the University of Chile and holds a master’s degree from Oxford University. He speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese and Swedish.
