UN chief commends Azerbaijani-Armenian agreement to normalize relations

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomes the joint statement by Azerbaijan and Armenia of their intention to normalize relations and hopes that it will serve to ensure long-term peace.

Spokesman for the UN chief Stephane Dujarric told a briefing, Report says.

“The Secretary-General welcomes the joint statement of Azerbaijan and Armenia. The UN encourages the parties to use this agreement to promote mutual trust and ensure long-term peace for the benefit of their peoples and the region,” he said.
