UN official: Everyone should make efforts to establish peace accross globe

Alexander Zuev, UN Assistant Secretary-General, Rule of Law, Department of Peacekeeping Operations, has said that everyone should make efforts to establish global peace.

Zuev made the remarks at a plenary session organized within the framework of the VI World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue on the theme "Dialogue for Peace and Global Security" in Baku on May 1, Azertag reports.

The UN has already turned its peacekeeping mission into a political factor.

Emphasising that conflicts are currently on the rise in the world, Alexander Zuev said: "In such a situation, we must do everything possible to preserve trust in the UN." The focus should be on partnership. At present, all religious and political parties have gathered in Baku. I am confident that this forum will contribute to international peace. Azerbaijan continues to participate in political discussions at the international level.”

Noting that this year is a special year for the UN, Alexander Zuev said a very important event will be held in September to discuss threats to humanity that may arise in the future.
