UN resident coordinator wraps up term in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance, Sahil Babayev, met with Vladanka Andreeva, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, as her term in office comes to an end. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the UN and the Azerbaijani government in the field of sustainable development.
Officials exchanged views on the Framework Document on Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development for 2026–2030, which was signed by Azerbaijan and the UN in October. Discussions highlighted the document’s alignment with national development priorities, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and its potential impact on the country’s socio-economic progress, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Framework Document, developed in collaboration with the Azerbaijani government, is intended to serve as a key platform for promoting inclusive economic growth, advancing human development, and enhancing climate and environmental sustainability. It is also designed to support green growth and a just transition, in line with Azerbaijan’s “Socio-Economic Development Strategy for 2022–2026.”
Both sides emphasised the importance of effective implementation to achieve practical outcomes that contribute to long-term development and sustainable progress in Azerbaijan.
