UN urges Armenia to address issue of missing Azerbaijanis On International Day of the Disappeared
On the International Day of the Disappeared, Stéphane Dujarric, a spokesperson for UN Secretary-General, called on Armenia to act with urgency and sensitivity regarding the plight of missing Azerbaijani citizens.
The UN official emphasized the fundamental right of families and relatives to be informed about the whereabouts of their missing loved ones, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The spokesperson underscored that the United Nations is prepared to collaborate with Azerbaijan and any other involved governments to address this humanitarian issue. His remarks follow ongoing concerns over the approximately 4,000 Azerbaijani citizens reported missing as a consequence of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.
The call for action comes as the international community marks the International Day of the Disappeared on August 30, a day dedicated to raising awareness about individuals who have gone missing under various circumstances, including conflict and political unrest.
