UN vows support for Azerbaijan ahead of COP29

At the "29 Conversations on Climate: The Path to COP29" event, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva reaffirmed the UN's commitment to assisting Azerbaijan in its preparations for COP29.

Andreeva urged Azerbaijan to lead discussions on the imperative need to reduce climate emissions, Caliber.Az reports citing Azertag.

Andreeva highlighted the urgency of addressing climate change, noting that global warming has already reached 1.6 degrees Celsius.

She stressed the need for a 45% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and emphasized that COP29 is part of a continuous process.

Andreeva also underscored the importance of sustained commitments beyond COP29, saying that climate action requires ongoing efforts and strategies.
