US chamber of commerce delegation to visit Azerbaijan

12 December 2025 13:46

A high-level delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce is set to visit Azerbaijan in February 2026 to further enhance energy cooperation between the two countries.

This announcement follows a series of productive meetings in Washington D.C. between Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, and US lawmakers and energy sector representatives, where both sides discussed opportunities for deepening their energy partnership, Caliber.Az reports via Energy Ministry

Minister Shahbazov met with Michael Cloud, Vice-Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy, and Dan Newhouse, a member of the House Appropriations Committee's Energy and Water Development Subcommittee.

During these meetings, the prospects for expanding energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States were discussed, with a focus on projects like the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor, which continue to play a critical role in regional energy supply.

The discussions also highlighted the important role played by US President Donald Trump in the successful implementation of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).

Minister Shahbazov pointed out that the Memorandum of Understanding on the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” and the Charter of Strategic Partnership open new opportunities for energy collaboration, particularly in light of the US President's current efforts to restore peace in the region.

The importance of regional energy connections between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Central Asia, and Europe was also underscored, emphasizing their role in strengthening strategic partnership ties.

In a separate meeting with Jennifer Miel, Vice President of the US Chamber of Commerce, and leading energy companies, Minister Shahbazov discussed the future of energy relations.

He noted that President Ilham Aliyev’s vision is to maintain and strengthen Azerbaijan's active role in the global energy market, not only in hydrocarbons but also in electricity, renewable energy, and hydrogen. The US Chamber of Commerce commended Azerbaijan’s contributions to the global energy agenda, particularly its efforts in the green energy sector.

The Chamber expressed its intent to further develop cooperation with Azerbaijan, with a delegation set to visit the country in February 2026. Energy cooperation will be one of the main priorities of this visit, as both countries look to expand their partnership in energy innovation and sustainability.
