US foreign policy leader highlights importance of peace in South Caucasus at XII Global Baku Forum

Susan Elliott, President and CEO of the National Committee on Foreign Policy of America, highlighted the crucial need for peace and stability in the South Caucasus during her comments at the XII Global Baku Forum.

She was responding to news about Azerbaijan and Armenia finalizing the text of a peace treaty, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Elliott expressed her appreciation for the efforts of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in this process.

“Any process that brings closer the signing of an agreement between the two countries is a step in the right direction. Peace and stability in the South Caucasus is extremely important. I am really grateful to President Ilham Aliyev for his endeavour to resolve the long conflict with Armenia. This forum is a good example that the President of Azerbaijan is committed to finding solutions for peace and stability in the world,” Elliott said.

The ongoing XII Global Baku Forum, under the theme “Rethinking World Order: Turning Challenges into Opportunities,” is being held at the Gulustan Palace in Baku, Azerbaijan. The forum, organized under the patronage of President Aliyev, will continue until March 15. It has attracted over 400 distinguished participants, including current and former heads of state, Nobel Peace Prize laureates, and influential representatives from international organizations and civil society.

In his opening address, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the forum's importance as a platform for global dialogue, cooperation, and innovation. Since its inception, the Global Baku Forum has grown into a major international event, bringing together over 100 heads of state and government and more than 4,000 senior leaders. Through its discussions and initiatives, the forum continues to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, promoting solutions for a constantly evolving global landscape.
