US Jewish diaspora organisations welcome Azerbaijan's decision to open embassy in Israel
Azerbaijan's decision to open its embassy in Israel is an important step, the American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) said on its Twitter account.
"Today's historic decision by the Azeri parliament is a significant step forward in the relationship between Israel and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan will be the first Shi'ite Muslim-majority nation to open an embassy in the Jewish state," the statement reads, according to Caliber.Az.
The American Jewish Committee (AJC) also commented on the decision to open the embassy.
"We applaud Azerbaijan's historic decision to open an embassy in Israel - the first Shi'ite Muslim country to do so. AJC and Azerbaijan have long been close partners and this step will further strengthen the ties between Israel and the Muslim world," the diaspora organisation said on its Twitter account.
