US Jewish leaders set to visit Azerbaijan, citing tolerance, partnership

02 February 2026 17:36

A delegation from the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations—widely regarded as one of the most influential Jewish advocacy bodies in the United States—is scheduled to arrive in Azerbaijan on an official visit beginning February 9.

The delegation will be led by Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman Emeritus of the Conference and a longstanding figure in American Jewish leadership, known for his extensive diplomatic engagement on behalf of the Jewish community, Caliber.Az reports, citing AIA Global News.

The primary aim of the visit is to personally convey deep appreciation to the Azerbaijani leadership for its consistent and unwavering support of the country’s Jewish community, which has long enjoyed peaceful coexistence, religious freedom, and state-level protection in the Muslim-majority nation.

During the visit, the delegation will also underscore and commend Azerbaijan for the strong and genuine friendship between Baku and Jerusalem, reflecting the deepening strategic, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries in recent years.

The Conference of Presidents brings together leaders from more than 50 major American Jewish organizations, serving as a central forum where diverse segments of the Jewish community engage in dialogue and coordination based on mutual respect.

The visit is expected to further underscore Azerbaijan’s reputation as a model of interfaith tolerance and its standing as a trusted partner of Israel and the global Jewish community.
