US says Armenia–Azerbaijan peace could transform entire South Caucasus

A peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan would create transformational opportunities for the entire South Caucasus, the US State Department said in a statement to Netgazeti.

The State Department also reaffirmed Washington’s long-standing partnership with Georgia and addressed the broader regional impact of a potential peace deal.

“The United States of America has been a chosen partner for Georgia and the Georgian people for 33 years. We remain firm supporters of Georgia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The United States seeks to build constructive relations with Tbilisi. A peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan opens transformational opportunities for the entire South Caucasus. Georgia can both contribute to the stability and prosperity that this agreement would make possible and derive tangible benefits from it. We will continue to engage with the Government of Georgia on issues affecting our bilateral relations and the political environment in the country,” the State Department said in the statement.
