US State Department highlights TRIPP as top priority

The TRIPP transport corridor programme (“Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity”) remains one of Washington’s top priorities, the US State Department has said.

According to Caliber.Az, the statement was made by a State Department spokesperson in response to a query from Armenpress.

“The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) remains a top priority for the United States, with the potential to unleash peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus region and beyond. The Trump Administration remains committed to making TRIPP a reality,” the spokesperson noted.

According to the State Department representative, the TRIPP transport corridor will ensure uninterrupted international and domestic connectivity across the region, expanding opportunities for economic growth.

“The ultimate objectives of TRIPP are to strengthen the prosperity and security of Armenia and Azerbaijan and expand U.S. commercial opportunities by expanding regional trade and connectivity, as well as to create new transit links from Central Asia and the Caspian to Europe,” the spokesperson added.

On August 8, 2025, in Washington, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, in the presence of the US president, signed a joint declaration consisting of seven points. One of its provisions concerns the launch of the Zangezur corridor (“Trump Route” — a 42-kilometre stretch passing through Armenian territory — ed.) as part of efforts to unblock regional communications.

In addition, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia initialled an agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations.
