US top diplomat calls TRIPP “anchor” of Azerbaijan–Armenia peace deal
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has described the TRIPP project as a central pillar of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Speaking during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, Rubio said the initiative serves as an anchor of the broader settlement framework between the two countries.
He noted, however, that the project goes beyond being merely an anchor and carries what he characterized as a transformative, “revolutionary” significance.
Rubio also highlighted Washington’s active involvement in advancing the initiative, stating that a formal agreement has already been signed. According to him, the arrangement is designed to facilitate investment by American companies, serving both US private sector interests and the broader economic interests of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and other regional states.
He added that the United States hopes the project will help stimulate further regional development.
