US, UK air strikes hit Yemen's Hodeidah
The United States and Britain have attacked facilities of the Shiite rebel movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) in Hodeidah province, western Yemen.
The coalition forces conducted at least five raids, targeting the international airport in Hodeidah, Caliber.Az reports citing media affiliated with the Houthis.
In response to the escalating conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Ansar Allah movement had threatened to bomb Israeli territory and obstruct ships associated with Israel from passing through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until operations in Gaza cease.
Since November 2023, the Houthis have attacked numerous civilian vessels in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Reacting to these threats, US authorities announced the formation of an international coalition and launched an operation to ensure freedom of navigation and the security of ships in the Red Sea. Subsequently, British and US military forces have regularly targeted rebel military facilities in Yemen.
