US vice president plans regional visit to Azerbaijan, Armenia
US Vice President James David Vance is set to visit Azerbaijan and Armenia in February, US President Donald Trump announced.
Trump disclosed the planned visit in a post on his social media platform, Truth. He said the trip will focus on advancing peace initiatives in the region and promoting the TRIPP corridor, Caliber.Az reports.
Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), also known as the Zangazur Corridor, is a major regional infrastructure project aimed at linking mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave via Armenia’s Syunik region.
The project was formalised on August 8, 2025, in Washington through a declaration signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, together with US President Donald Trump.
The initiative is intended both as a peace-building tool and a strategic logistics corridor. It includes plans for new railways and roads, oil and gas pipelines, fibre-optic networks, and electricity transmission lines. Its broader goal is to connect South Caucasus countries to the Middle Corridor trade route between Europe and Asia, boosting regional transit capacity, trade, and economic diversification.
