US vice president Vance to visit Azerbaijan, signaling strong bilateral ties
US Vice President JD Vance is set to visit Azerbaijan this week, in what the US Embassy describes as the highest-level American visit to the country in recent years.
The trip is seen as a clear demonstration of the strength of US–Azerbaijan relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Embassy.
"This week Vice President JD Vance will visit Azerbaijan, marking the highest-level visit to Azerbaijan in many years. The Vice President’s visit reflects the strength of the U.S.-Azerbaijan relationship and our shared commitment to expanding cooperation and advancing peace and stability in the South Caucasus," the Embassy noted.
To recall, US Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance have today arrived in Yerevan.
Vance has begun high-level talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The discussions are being held behind closed doors, with details yet to be released.
The visit forms part of a broader regional tour. Vance is scheduled to remain in Armenia until 10 February, before travelling to Azerbaijan for talks from February 10-11.
