Uzbek president honours Azerbaijan’s ambassador at end of diplomatic mission PHOTO
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Azerbaijan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the country, Huseyn Guliyev, on June 22 as the diplomat concluded his mission in Uzbekistan, according to a statement issued by the presidential press service.
Mirziyoyev praised the ambassador’s contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries, highlighting active political dialogue at various levels and growing trade and economic cooperation.
The statement noted that bilateral trade has increased significantly in recent years, nearly 280 enterprises with Azerbaijani capital have been established in Uzbekistan, and a joint investment company has been created. The two sides are also advancing projects in geology, agriculture, transport, urban development, and the textile and pharmaceutical industries. Particular attention is being paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mirziyoyev presented Guliyev with the Mehnat Shuhrati (Labour Glory) Order in recognition of his contribution to strengthening multifaceted bilateral relations.
The ambassador, in turn, thanked the Uzbek leader for the high recognition of his work and for supporting the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
