Uzbek president to visit Japan for strategic talks, summit
President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will undertake an official visit to Tokyo from December 18 to 20 at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
During the visit, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold meetings with Emperor Naruhito, the Prime Minister, parliamentary and government representatives, as well as leaders from Japan’s political and academic sectors, Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media.
The discussions will focus on further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan, while expanding cooperation across trade, economic, investment, and scientific-educational spheres. As part of the business program, the President will meet with executives of major Japanese corporations and financial institutions to explore opportunities for joint projects. A number of bilateral agreements are expected to be signed at the conclusion of the visit.
Additionally, President Mirziyoyev will participate in the inaugural summit of heads of state under the “Central Asia – Japan” format. The summit will address priority areas, including the green economy, sustainable development, regional cooperation, and human capital development. The event is expected to culminate with the adoption of the Tokyo Declaration, outlining the framework for future collaboration between Japan and Central Asian countries.
