Vietnamese ambassador: Azerbaijan pursuing successful policy in Asia-Pacific region

Vietnamese Ambassador to Türkiye Do Son Hai has said that Azerbaijan is pursuing a successful policy in the Asia-Pacific region.

“The Asian region holds a significant place in Azerbaijan's foreign policy. The Azerbaijani government maintains strong relations with Asian countries as well as regional organisations,” he said, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

"I hope that ties between Asian countries and Azerbaijan will continue expanding in all areas," the diplomat said.

Azerbaijan and Vietnam have developed strong political ties, marked by high-level visits and regular dialogue. Both countries share similar views on several international issues, including support for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty. 

They have also cooperated in various international organizations, such as the United Nations. Economic ties between Azerbaijan and Vietnam have been growing, with both countries expressing interest in expanding trade and investment. 

In recent years, they have focused on energy cooperation, capitalizing on Azerbaijan's expertise in the oil and gas sector. Azerbaijan’s state oil company, SOCAR, has explored opportunities for collaboration with Vietnam in oil and gas exploration, production, and refining. Azerbaijan and Vietnam have signed several agreements to boost trade, cultural exchange, and educational cooperation. Additionally, there has been mutual interest in expanding cooperation in agriculture, tourism, and information technology.  

Vietnam maintains an embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, while Azerbaijan covers its diplomatic representation to Vietnam through its embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This arrangement facilitates diplomatic communication and coordination on bilateral and multilateral issues.
