Washington denies Azerbaijan's using weapons supplied by US to Türkiye
The United States has not observed in Azerbaijan any illicit supply or use of weapons sold or transferred by the United States to Türkiye.
Caliber.Az reports that the remarks came from the US Assistant Secretary of State at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien, speaking on November 15 at the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee Subcommittee Hearing on the situation in Karabakh.
Representative Dina Titus asked about reports of Türkiye's use of F-16 fighter jets in Azerbaijan during previous operations.
O'Brien noted that relations in this area with NATO ally Türkiye are very transparent and the United States does not see any signs of illegal supplies.
“We have clear instructions for end users, as well as monitoring. I have never observed any signs of illegal shipments. In practice, we are extremely careful in this matter. This relationship is very transparent, especially with Türkiye, which is a NATO ally... I am not familiar [with the use of F-16 fighters in previous operations], I have never heard of it,” O'Brien explained.
