Western Azerbaijan Community joins UN Human Rights Council talks
The 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council is being held in Geneva, Switzerland, from September 9 to October 11.
The agenda focuses on key issues such as combating racism, protecting the rights of indigenous peoples, addressing the impacts of climate change, and other pressing matters, Caliber.Az reports.
The session features participation from civil society representatives, international organizations, and delegates from UN member states.
Ulviyya Zulfikar, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Western Azerbaijan Community and Western Azerbaijan Television represents civil society at this session.
Established in 1989 initially as the Azerbaijan Refugee Society and later rebranded as the Western Azerbaijan Community, the organization is committed to advocating for the rights of Azerbaijanis displaced from modern-day Armenia. Its mission extends beyond advocating for their return; it also focuses on consolidating efforts to protect the rights, development, and security of Azerbaijanis in the region.
