Western Azerbaijan Community responds to UN High Commissioner's biased statement
The Western Azerbaijan Community regrets over the biased statement of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk regarding the events that occurred in September 2023.
“The Western Azerbaijan Community called on Türk to avoid double standards in the issues related to the human rights and to pay attention to the issue of the return of Western Azerbaijanis to Armenia, the homeland of their ancestors,” the Western Azerbaijan Community told Caliber.Az.
“This issue must become an integral part of the dialogue between the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and Armenia,” the message said.
The Azerbaijan Armed Forces conducted local anti-terrorist measures on September 19-20, 2023, to neutralize illegal Armenian armed formations and their military infrastructure in the Karabakh region.
Following the collapse of the illegal Armenian separatist regime, the necessity for peacekeepers in the Karabakh region diminished due to restored peace. Consequently, dozens of their observation posts were closed after the Azerbaijani military regained full control of the region in September 2023.
