Western Azerbaijan Community's reminder to Pashinyan Ethnic cleansing - crime against humanity
The Western Azerbaijan Community has responded to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to Azertag, the community statement reads:
"Today, in his speech at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) in Berlin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attempted to distort calls to allow Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to return to their homes. He has tried to portray these calls as something that affects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia.
We would like to remind the Prime Minister that ethnic cleansing is a crime against humanity and that the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia is their legitimate right.
Ensuring the right of return of the Azerbaijanis is an obligation of Armenia, stemming from the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and many other important international documents.
Ensuring the right of return of Azerbaijanis is an indispensable condition for maintaining peace and security in the region. We have drawn up a concept for a peaceful, safe, and dignified return. Once again we call on Prime Minister Pashinyan to start negotiations with the West Azerbaijani community, through an international process, to ensure the safe and dignified return of the Azerbaijanis".
