What did Azerbaijani, Armenian leaders agree on in Chisinau? Details of the meeting

01 June 2023 23:43

The five-party informal meeting on the margins of the summit of the European political community was held in a positive way, diplomatic sources told  Caliber.Az.

"It was decided that a trilateral meeting (Aliyev-Michel-Pashinyan) will be held in Brussels on July 21 and another meeting of foreign ministers in Washington will also be held at the same time. The main gist of the talks in Washington will be about the peace agreement," the sources said.

At the same time, they noted that the talks mediated by Charles Michel are more coordinated.

"The participation of the heads of France and Germany in general at today's meeting was informal. The main discussions are taking place in a 3-way format with the support of Charles Michel. At the meeting, the importance of intensifying negotiations on the peace treaty was once again stressed," the sources stressed.

To recap, an informal meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President France Emmanuel Macron took place in Chisinau on June 1, on the sidelines of the Second European Political Community Summit.
