Where Turkish F-16s to be modernized?

The schedule for the delivery and modernization of F-16 fighter jets to Türkiye, whose approval process has been completed by the US Congress, is expected to go into effect in June-July 2024.

Sources in the Ministry of National Defense told TRT Haber that the draft proposals and letters of acceptance are expected to be delivered to Türkiye by the end of February. After Türkiye reviews the proposals and letters of acceptance and finalizes the project with US authorities, the schedule is expected to go into effect in June-July 2024.

Negotiations are underway for the modernization and production of 79 F-16 Viper aircraft, in Türkiye.

It is also noted that contrary to statements there are no preconditions regarding the use of the procured and modernized F-16s, as previously emphasized.
