Zakharova predicts new Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact for Estonia

17 May 2022 15:21

Caliber.Az has written more than once that some Kremlin forces would like to restore another geopolitical project under the auspices of Russia, conventionally called by experts "USSR 2.0". Moscow has traditionally regarded the post-Soviet space as a zone of its interests and influence, and does not intend to limit itself to the boneless CSTO [Collective Security Treaty Organization] and the EAEU [Eurasian Economic Union]. This is also indicated, in principle, by the bloodthirsty ride in Ukraine, the purpose of which is to prevent the final leaving of this second-largest post-Soviet country for the West.

Of course, the neo-imperial Bolshevik expansionist policies of parts of the Russian political elite are not limited to Ukraine or Central Asia, and the South Caucasus. It would like to restore and return to the borders of at least 1941-1945 years. These intentions include the Baltic States, which have long been full members of NATO. It is clear that modern Russia obviously does not have enough power for this. But there is no harm in dreaming.

By the way, this refers to another attack by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, against Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and even more broadly, against the whole country. Did she predict the restoration of the CPSU [Communist Party of the Soviet Union] to Estonia!? Well, is it a dream about the 'USSR 2.0'? However, we offer readers to verify this for themselves.

Maria Vladimirovna was outraged by Kallas' call for Western leaders to stop phoning Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the conflict in Ukraine: "He feels like the centre of attention because everyone wants to talk to him. But what do we get out of it? I cannot see any results."

"I wonder who is she to give such sensible advice to Western leaders.  It turns out that no autocratic sultan has such a hereditary career.  Kaja Kallas is the Estonian prime minister, as her dad Siim Kallas once was (2002-2003). Kaja Kallas is the Reform Party chairwoman, as her dad Siim Kallas once was (1994-2004). Kaja Kallas is an activist of European institutions, like her dad Siim Kallas (from 2004 to 2009 and from 2010 to 2014 he served as commissioner and vice-president of the European Commission). The same dad Siim Kallas was a member of the Communist Party for almost 20 years (his daughter has more to come) and then created the party that initiated the law in Estonia according to which the monument 'Bronze Soldier' was dismantled in 2007 in spite of mass protests of population," Zakharova indignantly posted.

And now a question arises: shouldn't the prime minister of Estonia consider the words that membership in the Communist Party of the Soviet Union is still ahead of her as the obvious threat to restore the empire? After all, even in 1939-1940, few suspected that Estonia would join the USSR by force as a result of signing the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. The last two have long been dead, but, as we can see, dreams of returning the Baltic States, if not to the mythical "USSR 2.0", then at least to Moscow's zone of influence, are alive.
