Zelenskyy: National security chief leads Ukrainian delegation to US for peace talks
Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council (NSDC), is leading a delegation to the United States for a new round of peace discussions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Zelenskyy said the reformed team has been given a clear mandate to “swiftly and substantively” prepare the next steps aimed at ending the conflict.
“Ukraine continues to work as constructively as possible with the United States, and we expect that the outcomes of the meetings in Geneva will now be further developed in the United States,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the president, talks between Ukrainian and US representatives are scheduled to take place on November 30.
On November 28, Zelenskyy announced that his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, resigned following an anti-corruption raid on his Kyiv apartment.
Yermak, 54, a key adviser throughout Russia’s invasion, played a central role in Ukraine’s diplomatic and strategic efforts. He has not been formally accused of wrongdoing and pledged full cooperation with authorities.
